The AI Studio is where the magic happens. Generate photorealistic AI renovation renders by selecting styles, lighting, and color palettes.

Accessing the Studio
There are multiple ways to access the AI Studio:
- From a room detail page, click "Open in Studio"
- From the sidebar, click the Studio icon
- From a project, click on any room thumbnail

Generation Process
- 1Select a room with an original photo
- 2Choose your renovation style from the options
- 3Adjust lighting mood (Natural, Warm, Cool, etc.)
- 4Select a color palette
- 5Click "Generate" and wait ~30 seconds
- 6Review the result. If it's almost perfect but needs a tweak, use the "Refine" button
Generation Modes
Before generating, select a mode using the Pro / Fast toggle at the bottom of the sidebar.
Pro (4K)
Best for customer-facing final renders. Uses our highest-quality AI model with built-in self-healing. Generates a 1K preview initially, then automatically triggers a high-resolution 4K upscale when you approve the render.

Fast (1K)
Designed strictly for internal style checks. Uses a lower-fidelity model to give you a rapid preview of the design direction.
Important: Fast renders are automatically filtered out of client proposals. You must use Pro mode for any render you intend to share.

- • ~10–15 seconds per render
- • Excluded from Proposals
Tip: Look for the "1K FAST" badge on the canvas to identify fast renders. Use Pro for the final 4K version you'll share with clients.
Studio Tools & Interaction
Spacebar Peek
Hold the Spacebar while viewing any render to instantly "peek" at the original cleaned room. This is the fastest way to compare the AI's design with the base space.
Keyboard Navigation
Use the Arrow Left/Right keys to quickly switch between different renders in the filmstrip without taking your hands off the keyboard.
Architectural Integrity (Camera Lock)
Our AI uses advanced "Camera Lock" technology to ensure that the structural layout of the room (walls, windows, doors) remains identical to the original photo, even as the style changes.
Architectural Marketing Copy
Altara automatically generates a professional architectural description for your renovated room. This copy is specifically written to highlight the design choices and can be used directly in your marketing materials.
The description is updated every time you generate a new renovation and is included in your client proposals.
Refining Renders
Iterative Refinement
Not happy with a specific detail? You can provide feedback to the AI to refine the image. Click the Refine button (Rotate icon) on any generated image to open the feedback dialog. Enter your instructions (e.g., "Make the floor lighter", "Remove the rug") and the AI will generate a new version based on your feedback while keeping the context of the previous image.
Note: Refinement uses the "Thought Signature" of the previous image to maintain consistency.
Downloading Renders
You can download high-resolution versions of your generated renovations directly from the Studio. Look for the Download button in the bottom-right corner of the canvas view. This saves the image to your device for use in marketing materials or external presentations.
Handling Failures
Sometimes AI generation may fail due to complexity or server issues. We've built safeguards to protect your credits:
Automatic Refunds
If a render fails for any technical reason, your credit is automatically refunded to your balance instantly. You never pay for failed generations.
Manual Retry
If a generation fails, you'll see a "Retry" button on the card. Clicking this will attempt the generation again with the same settings.
About Credits
Each AI generation uses 1 credit. Your credit balance is shown in the bottom-left user menu. Contact support to purchase more credits.
Pro Tips

- • Try multiple styles to find what works best for each room
- • Generate 2-3 variations to give clients options

- • Works best with interior room photos
- • Exterior renovations are not yet supported
